BMW First Sport Car

BMW is the German multinational company which produces automobiles and motorcycles. Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) produced its first car in the year 1917 but until 1978, BMW had not produced its first sports car. The name of the first ever model of BMW's sports car is M1.

In the late 1970s, BMW had signed an agreement with Lamborghini to build a sufficient quantity of mid-engine sports cars for homologation. But, due to some conflicts, the agreement didn't work as per the plan. After all this, BMW has decided to manufacture the racing cars by itself.

Then, Bavarian Motors has manufactured first-ever sports car i.e., BMW M1.  BMW M1 was the first car to be built by BMW M alone. The BMW M1 had 3.5 Liter (3453 CC) displacement and six-cylinder engine with Kugelfischer & Bosch mechanical fuel injection and Magneti-Marelli ignition system. The fiberglass body of BMW M1 was manufactured by the Italian company, named Italiana Resina.

The top speed of BMW's M1 model was 164 mph (260 kmph). As it was BMW's first sports car, the interior of the car was not so attractive, luxury and comfortable. It had a half-leather and half-cloth interior. However, it had some other useful tools such as air-conditioning, stereo and power windows.

It had inline-6 engine with 277 hp at 6500 RPM, and the torque of 243 at 5000 RPM. With the powerful engine in the first car of BMW, it had the capacity to reach from 0 to 60 miles just in 6.5 seconds. And, it had the capacity to reach from 0 to 100 miles just in 13.3 seconds.

BMW had not produced its first sports car until the 1970s. First sign and then breaching of the contract agreement with Lamborghini made BMW produce the sports cars on its own. And, it resulted in the first-ever racing car of BMW M1.

Why BMW is dangerous?

Bavarian Motors Works (BMW) is the popular German luxury automobiles and motorcycles producing company. BMW is very popular and it has a variety of different cars from which we can select. As compared to Mercedes-Benz, BMW has a higher number of variants available from which we can make our best decision for selection.

There are a number of benefits of owning a BMW car, and they are, a number of varieties available, technology, its performance, actual driving experience, etc. but, with such benefits, there you will also face some limitations in this car brand.

One of the critical things about buying foreign manufactured brands like BMW is in regard to the availability of parts, and the nature of repair and maintenance. One should consider this factor seriously because the nature of repair and maintenance of BMW will obviously be different from a normal car.

According to the data by IIHS, BMW is listed in the top 10 most unsafe cars in the world, which means this is the dangerous car on the road. Here, the critical thing about this list of top 10 most unsafe cars is that it includes not one or two, but four models of BMW car in the list of ten.

The model names of those four cars: BMW i8 plugin-hybrid two-door 4WD, BMW M6 two-door, BMW M3 four-door, and BMW M4 two-door. There was an analysis of over 2.4 million vehicles from the year 2009 and newer, for reported accidents.

Among these four cars of BMW, it was found that the BMW 4 series car was the most accident-prone car, and which is also one of the most common luxury cars on the market. This data was really very shocking.

IIHS has also prepared the list of the top safest cars in the world. And, the strange thing is that this list does not contain any model of BMW cars or vehicles. However, this list does include some of the popular models of a few car brands such as Ford, Chevrolet, Subaru, and GMC. Hence, this makes us more to think before buying BMW.

In the end, you can only decide for whether BMW car will be perfect for you or not. If you are a fan of its features and accessories, you can buy the car of BMW.

BMW and Women

Luxury car brands are nowadays focusing on women drivers instead of men. Do you know the reason behind this? Well, women are buying more than half of the new cars in the United States (US) and they influence up to 80% of all car purchases.

According to Forbes, with results like these, luxury car producers and marketers like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes, are finally starting to target women and their specific needs related to the luxury cars.

But, women are not limited to just driving cars. They are in the production line and designing department of some popular luxury car brands. The designers of the BMW I series user interface are two ladies, named Monika Zych and Sandy McGill.

To highlight the authenticity of real women with real stories, last year, BMW Group has presented a new book and storytelling exhibition - 200 Women Who Will Change the Way You See the World celebrate a diverse group of inspirational women. The exhibition was at Pen + Brush Gallery in New York City on 15th May.

The exhibition was based on the book and storytelling project of the same name by creators Ruth Hobday and Geoff Blackwell and the book was published by Chronicle Books.

This book was inspired by the simple idea of persuading 200 women, regardless of nationality, status, race. religion or celebrity, to answer a series of five questions that describing what is most important to them in life. This book features all 200 original interviews and accompanying photographs. This shows that BMW understands the power of women and this book can inspire a lot of other women as well.

Earlier, luxury car brands such as BMW Group, Mercedes, Audi, etc. were not focusing on the vehicle needs of women separately, but after these luxury car brands have considered the data that in the US, women are buying more than half of new cars and they influence up to 80% of all car purchases, these brands have decided to target women and their specific needs related to the luxury cars. Hence, BMW is trying to focus on the specific needs of women and design vehicles accordingly.
