BMW and Women

Luxury car brands are nowadays focusing on women drivers instead of men. Do you know the reason behind this? Well, women are buying more than half of the new cars in the United States (US) and they influence up to 80% of all car purchases.

According to Forbes, with results like these, luxury car producers and marketers like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes, are finally starting to target women and their specific needs related to the luxury cars.

But, women are not limited to just driving cars. They are in the production line and designing department of some popular luxury car brands. The designers of the BMW I series user interface are two ladies, named Monika Zych and Sandy McGill.

To highlight the authenticity of real women with real stories, last year, BMW Group has presented a new book and storytelling exhibition - 200 Women Who Will Change the Way You See the World celebrate a diverse group of inspirational women. The exhibition was at Pen + Brush Gallery in New York City on 15th May.

The exhibition was based on the book and storytelling project of the same name by creators Ruth Hobday and Geoff Blackwell and the book was published by Chronicle Books.

This book was inspired by the simple idea of persuading 200 women, regardless of nationality, status, race. religion or celebrity, to answer a series of five questions that describing what is most important to them in life. This book features all 200 original interviews and accompanying photographs. This shows that BMW understands the power of women and this book can inspire a lot of other women as well.

Earlier, luxury car brands such as BMW Group, Mercedes, Audi, etc. were not focusing on the vehicle needs of women separately, but after these luxury car brands have considered the data that in the US, women are buying more than half of new cars and they influence up to 80% of all car purchases, these brands have decided to target women and their specific needs related to the luxury cars. Hence, BMW is trying to focus on the specific needs of women and design vehicles accordingly.
